FINAL REFLECTION

I got a lot out of this class. I learned many skills which I can apply into my future profession. I learned how to make a website, and add google gadgets, and other apps onto the website to make it more fun. I learned how to code a video which will be important for my future classes. I will be doing a lot of this, and I know now how to code the video, and see what I am doing well on in my teaching, and what I need to work on. Another thing I got out of this class was how technology can help me in my career, and how it can help me in my personal life as well. This semester we had many gospel insights presentations. Not only did they strengthen my testimony, they also gave me new insights on how I can use technology to enhance my future career.

I will use technology in my class. I will have a class website, and a class blog. This will help in saving paper, and being environmentally friendly. If I have my students submit all their assignments online, I won't be able to loose them either. Besides in today's society children and youth are on computers and using technology more and more. It will be smart to gear my classes towards what my future students will be using. Besides using a blog, and website I will also video tape myself so I can continue improving my teaching. By evaluating my teaching through a video I will be able to see what I need to work on or what I am doing well in my classes.

Mobile Apps

I don't know if I would use mobile apps in my class. They are convenient, but I don't know if I would like to completely rely on technology in my classroom. Technology is great, but I just don't know if I want it in every aspect of my classroom. On the other hand using mobile apps would be great because you would save paper, and assignments would be easier to do let's say if I wanted them to track their diet for a week, or physical activity level for a week. However, I still think I would rather not use mobile apps in my class.

Studio Code

Management is an important factor in teaching any subject, but especially in P.E. Making sure you have smooth transitions is very important in management. Whether or not you have smooth transitions can make or break a class. By having smooth transitions the kids have more time to actually be physically active. Having clear signals is important too. It makes the class more enjoyable if everyone knows what is going on, and everyone is well behaved. Another factor that is important in class management is having effective distribution, use, and clean up of the equipment used in your lessons. Setting the equipment far enough away from the students is important. It removes temptation, and doesn't get in the way when you are participating in activities.
Instruction is also important component of teaching. As a teacher it is important to give meaningful and specific feedback. That way the student knows exactly what they are doing right, and how they can improve. Not using jargon is something I have struggled with, but I am getting better. Eliminating jargon is important, it makes you sound more professional when you aren't using it. Giving and repeating cues throughout the lesson is vital. If you are teaching younger kids it's important to give them simple cues that they can understand, and continue to repeat them so they remember them.
For next semesters teaching I am going to work on eliminating jargon from my speech. I also plan on working on giving specific and meaningful feedback to my students. There are so many aspects of teaching that I have the basics of, but now for next semester I'm going to work on polishing those areas.

Web 2.0 thoughts

There were many 2.0 tools that we talked about that I liked. I don't know if they would further my education, but they do make some things a lot easier. For instance google docs make life so much easier. You don't have to meet together you can all just get on and talk about your ideas, and whatever. It's great. I think that I might use a blog, or facebook in my teaching, just to put up announcements and things. Almost everyone has facebook these days so that would be useful. Just to put out important reminders to all the parents, and even students.

imovie project

This project wasn't so bad. I thought it would be harder than it ended up being. It was still frustrating trying to figure out everything. I had to change my original idea because I couldn't find the little kids I needed for my video. It was a useful skill to learn. I liked doing it. I will definitely use it in the future for school, my classroom, and just in my normal life.

Movie Project

The aspect of the project that I have focused on the last week is finding the kid Iwant to use for my show. It's hard to find a kid when your at college so I might change my movie story line just alitte bit. Unless, does anyone know of any little kids that would want to be in my movie? If you do just let me know. I'm still not sure that I know how to work the imovie. I guess it willjust take time, and practice.
